SELF PORTRAITS

We have been working on painting the face an head. The Mighty Rembrandt is our inspiration for these "classic" styled portraits. Here are samples of the "underpaintings", created with Burnt Sienna and white. After working through the struggles of organizing the features, their size, location and shapes, THEN students are going to add color. By painting right over the underpainting, they can match the VALUE of the color with the value of the underpainting. We are using a limited range of colors (earth tones, pthalo blue, crimson, cadmium red) in response to the "old school" style of the masters.
