Shelley Reed's Bold Use of Black and White

Reed is influenced by 17th century Dutch still life painters. She creates a modern still life paintings using black and white paint with complex compositions.
* Notice how she uses sharp and soft edges and contrast to create the illusion of depth. It looks like her work is painted with thin layers of paint, mostly wet-into-wet. Once you get the hang of mixing and applying values, this level of work can be great fun.

This gives you an idea of the size of her work.
